Samantha English – Jewellery
Samantha designs and makes jewellery that challenges perceived perceptions about its preciousness and its perfection. She plays with form and structure to highlight the wear and damage of old, much loved jewellery. Through her making process she uses heat, etching, damage and repair, pushing the metals to the limits of their integrity.
Her latest collection, Precious Imperfections explores this concept through pieces such as a ring cut from a broken finger, a locket with its glass and back lost tied to a chain as it awaits rediscovery and a hoop earring damaged after a night on the town.
The collection is cast in Sterling silver and also plated in 24ct gold to further explore the concept of preciousness.
