Kas Williams - Textiles
Kas Williams is a mixed media artist based on the South Coast. Her work reflects a profound love of colour and music and the lyrical energy and exuberance they provoke. Vibrant use of colour, pattern and texture is a signature of her work along with a playful layering of shades, tones, patterns and textures. Music is a significant inspiration and she draws parallels between the layering of colour pattern and texture in painting with the structure of musical composition, creating expressions in colour redolent of the tempo and dynamics of a musical composition. Her work reflects her refreshing and adventurous approach to creativity where freedom to improvise is key to her practice. Grounded in the traditional skills of painting and textile printing she embraces digital manipulation as a creative tool to add another dimension to her work.
Kas graduated from University for the Creative Arts in 2017 with a Masters Distinction in Textiles. In 2018 she was selected by the New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham for the Rising Stars programme and also returned to the University for a year as Artist in Residence. Since then she has exhibited widely both internationally and in the UK
