Erin Donohoe - Artist
Erin challenges the ideologies of perfectionism, which results with work that explores freedom of expression and innovation within her journey as an artist. Through her portraiture and lifestyle scenes, she tells a story. Her application and style of drawing is purposely made without precision and control, which challenges these ideas.
The materials she uses for her artworks are a wide range of mixed media. However, oil pastels, coloured pencils are dominant throughout her drawings. Erin likes to use a dry point etching tool for scratching into the layers of the oil pastel, to reveal underlayers of colour and texture, for instance on clothing for a portrait.
Through her artworks, she wants to create a world where perfectionism is obsolete, and originality is ever-present.
