Often working to commission, Denise creates site specific pieces for exhibitions, private clients, as well as commercial

Her work has a strong sense of colour, texture, rhythm and movement and plays heavily with the concept of distorted reflections. She uses a range of materials often with reflective qualities such as glass, mirror and contrasting matter which allows the changing light to play an integral effect on the faceted surfaces.

Working with ‘hard’ materials allows her to push the boundaries of where the work can be positioned. The majority of Denise’s artwork can be installed/placed outside, for these, she uses a restricted pallet of weatherproof materials, unlike the framed artwork pieces for interior spaces.

Denise’s large scale sculptures are often exhibited in public spaces such as RHS Wisley and The Savill Garden. She takes on regular commissions for private homes and gardens and has developed a range of smaller ‘Swaying Mosaics’ for domestic gardens. These individually crafted garden mosaics are weatherproof, lightweight and gently sway allowing the mesmerising reflection of any surrounding environment to become part of the ethereal experience.

Working in both 2D and 3D, Denise has developed a range of original techniques which are complimented by more traditional methods to give a unique contemporary twist to an ancient craft.

Where possible, Denise likes to incorporate some found material, fused glass or hand made ceramic fragments. She uses a kiln to explore and develop original hand made textured surfaces which are then broken, cut, shaped and manipulated to add interest and texture. Every piece has been carefully crafted to fit the exact space.
